Table tennis last night

It was cup match last night, the competent is Green Man, and I faced them before this year before in league match with Tre and Dave. We lost to them with a big gap results, 2:8. I won one match in the fifth game, lost one in the fifth game, lost the other directly 0:3 to Nigel.
Was I nervous to face them again, the answer is not at all, I always don't understand why I lost to this kind of players, they don't have too much skills that I really can't cope with.
I played as the first player with Roy, it really wasn't an easy game, as usual I was confident, but lost the first game, then got equal, 1:1, after that 1:2, but won the fourth one. So again we need the fifth game to decide a winner, but this time I feel he is old, I felt his tired, and I try my best to work out his weak part and what I should avoid. Well I won it. As team mates said: it was a good game, also crucial to the whole match.
Nigel, my god, I think he is a clever man, in his middle age, so he always know your weak part and play with his mind it. Although I won the first two games, but I lost the third, then the fourth, I just couldn't cope it very well, I did keep calm and make it very tight but I still lost it. And the fifth, it was very bad, at beginning I lost 5 points directly, later it really difficult for me to catch up. Why I lost 5 points directly, I don’t know, maybe I didn't play in the right way, the fact is when I attacked I smashed the ball out of table, when I defended I returned the ball under the net. God, it just didn't in my control and rhythm. I lost it. He is very happy, when I said, it is better, last time I lost with 3:0, he laughed and said: he remembered that.
But in the 6 game we already win the whole match with 5:1, so no need play remain matches as they wanted.
One thing I noticed is when Carl plays he like to should: Sugar! I asked him to confirm this shouting. He laughed and Phil told me, you also can shout: fish and chip. It was a funny point.

Keep your finger cross for your travel card

My monthly travel card can't open the gate at the last two days, so I decided to buy my next month travel card.
In W station the travel card that I got is only a paper card, even worse than the former one that I bought in K station.
Then I begin to complain, is that good enough for a month? I said.
The lady there answered with humor eye sight: you must keep your fingers cross.
I left without say anything.

Group presentation

I am generally very satisfied with my presentation this afternoon.
I showed my word without any part being missed. Promote everything that I do, they express positive attitude to that and involved in the topics being discussion. I did spend a lot of time prepared it.
One thing I don’t satisfied with my self. I showed my disagreement with R in one thing, so direct: I don’t agree with that, I worked for FEV, I know it well.
I should be more diplomatic as T said
Or S also noticed that, she said: that is a very good presentation. You no need argue with him so directly, just say: we discuss it later.

First day in Hongkong

On the 31 October, 2005, I arrived at Hong Kong Hong guan station after a 24 hours train journey from Beijing west station.
It was an interesting journey, as the most south place I had ever been is some place in Hubei, but that journey took me cross China from Beijing to Hongkong.
It really was a different world, as when I got out the station the first scene that I saw is the demonstration of Falungong. After a little bit struggling to try to find a bus to HKU, I decided to take a taxi to the students apartment building that Ray helped me booked.
I till remembered what the driver told me, it was golden time in 80s and 90s, everyone can do 3 or 4 jobs. Not now.
4 bags are fine to carry, as I did it. It was not very easy. Communication with the apartment workers, a little problem, but it is ok when I tried to do it in English and slow Mandarin. Finally I set up myself in a room on 23 floors. Then I need find something to feed myself and had a short visit to EEE department.
I did find where the department is. Ask is the best way. Then I know where I should go in the next day. I also need change some money in HK dollar.
It is funny or stupid in other people’s opinion. I met a guy there, and then I directly ask: I need change some money, where can I do that. I was lucky, his name is Andy; he is nice not only walked with me a long way to find one, also showed me the supermarket that I used in the following half year. Later I gave him a pack of Mahua, he was very happy.
It was like a movie, half years later before I left hongkong, I walked down the steps again to the supermarket. I met him again. Although he gave me him phone number, I didn’t contact him, but just before I left hongkong, I met the first guy I met in Hong Kong again.
Life is beautiful! It needs to be finding out.

Ask for a day off

首先,假条的上方还是应该按照半正式的格式写上如下信息:
To:假条是递给谁的
From:请假人
Date:写假条的日期(注意不是请假的日期)
Subject:写上请假字样 假条抬头范例如下:
To: Peter Stone, Manager
From: Lynn Chen, Financial Department
Date: April 2nd, 2004
Subject: Casual Leave of Absence
其次,在您的请假信第一段,应该开门见山但是有礼貌地提出请假。第一段要中心明确,写清您要请假的日期。 第一段范例如下:
Peter, I would like to know if I could ask for a casual leave of absence for one day on April 4th, this Wednesday.
然后,在假条的第二段,您应该简单明了陈述请假的原因事由。注意叙述清楚明白,并尽可能表示对此带来工作不便的歉意。 第二段范例如下:
This morning I received a telephone call from my dentist, urging me to come to his practice for immediate treatment of my teeth. I have been experiencing a stinging pain, depriving me of my sleep during the past fortnight. The situation could worsen, should infection occur. Concerning my workload: As Wednesday is not as busy as the other weekdays, I think a one-day leave this Wednesday may be the best solution. I apologize for the inconvenience my absence from work may cause.
接着,在假条的最后一段,应写上您希望获得准假的句子,或者具体等候答复的时间。 最后一段范例如下:
Thanks. I will call you at 1:30p.m. or you can call me at any time.
好,把以上几段综合起来,就是一则请假条,看看,是不是很简单?写得成功的请假条,能充分表明您是一个认真负责有条理的人,所以请多多练习吧。

University challenge

Last time we watched University challenge. It is quite impressive about one question. Unfortunately I forgot the question itself, but the answer should be either Downstream or upstream. One member in a team, first push the button and said: upstream. Just after the host said: no, another alarm came out immediately, faster that all the other's thinking, it alarmed before everyone realize it and the other guy in other team said: downstream. The host said: correct.
What a quick react and clever answer.

Man and Dog

Every time I get down or get up the elevator in Vauxhall tube station I still will remember Stwart. He had been working in my company for 13 years or more than that, and left in April. He asked about my experience and how long I would work for my company. I told him that my contact would finish in July, then he asked my contact in case he can help me find other job. That is very nice even later I didn't get any message from him.
I remembered the only time we travel back together on the train, we stand by the elevator and a girl passed by us walk down with a rhythmed knock of shoes on the step. After she passed down, Stwart begun to nod accompany the knock sound. Haha what a clever man, have fun of very small thing in life.

I heard that he likes dog and have 10 dogs at home! I feel people who have dogs must like life and countryside and enjoys himself.

Colorful world

Walking on London street, I want to say what a colorful world.
You can begin to count the hair type, blonde, red, brown, white, grey and black, curl, slightly curl and straight.
Face color, white, black, yellow and some color between black and yellow. Even white, there are quite different type of white, white with red, very white as it is a little bit pale, and dark white, which is already similar to yellow and darker than oriental girl, just they still have the white people face shape.
The height is also big difference, English could be tall and stocky, also could be a little bit tiny. Generally I must say they are tall.
Eyes color, grey eyes, blue eyes and black oriental eyes. Mainly I would like to say I have black eyes, but people here don't agree as it looks grey, exactly like my French colleague's eye color.
I must say most of them have hairy arm, there is a whole layer hair on it.

Anyway it is London zoo!

Post man-bye bye

Post man
I feel that postman in UK is special, as they deliver the post directly to your door and know a lot of private information by the post. Also the post service is already very mature here, how long it will cost is already very stable so a lot of communication in this society goes by post. They were a name of reliable for me, as they are so industrious and useful to everybody.
But their strike really makes most people annoyed, people begin to say they are not responsible and they are only low skill worker, shouldn't ask so much. Also minority people support them, they thing postman are in a very bad working condition, as they were postman before. Any way they made everyone very angry to them, business keep on lost money as they can't post production out or no post communication, average people who unfortunately was born in this time can't get any post cards.
Think? Can teacher strike? Can doctor in hospital strike? Can soldier strike? They do something bad, maybe good to themselves

have a good time

Have a good time
You should be a guy who is happy with himself and his life. People who spend time with you, mainly like enjoy the relax and happy time with you, so be a little bit sunny, easy going and down to earth relax, that should be helpful to you relationship with your colleagues. Don't complain life everyday, especially with someone who isn't necessary share your sorrow with you, your life is your problem, not others, you should try to find some reason of yourself.

stolen chilren

It was a painful story, it is also a strange topic stolen children.
I asked T about whether it exist in this country that some non human people steal or sell children, he said NO. never happen in this country, even some parents can't bring their children, there are some organisation help you bring them up. But Oliver Twist story still in my mind.
What a rubbish parent, the young couple Burgan with the people who sell children about how much does their daughter worth. God, shameless, non human, nasty…. They find an excuse for them that sing child policy make them can't afford the penalty and force them sell their baby.
What a shameless young couple, the money they maid from their daughter should be enough for the penalty. I heard from my sister that children have children, then their parents help them look after that baby, First time I saw some people who sell their own children. Most time if the parent can't afford the children they give him to others.
I must acknowledge that really exist in China, also already have long history, In old time it happened a lot. Later when the children who were sold out refuse to see their physical parent, they only hate them. I think that is very reasonable!
I just feel shame to them and I still can't understand what they are living for by doing that and what they are value for, they already lost the most cherishing thing in life!

Drinking

Interesting thing that west people like drinking together, sometime they can drink to 11pm with eating anything. But Chinese like eating. If friends want gather together, normally they find a restaurant and book a private room, singing and eating together. But west people normally like have a drink together.

Last night had a drink with colleague after football. It is really interesting, after couple of beer, you normally say something very frankly, like a old saying: people talk about true feeling after drinking. Both east eating and west drinking make people feel near to each other and say something very casually.

Last night possibly D is the first person to me to say that 100 years ago English people do that same thing that Chinese is doing now. He didn't just show dislike about Chinese society system naively. That is great. He said English people exactly did the same, destroy and unfair society. Just now is a lot better but still not perfect.

7:41 train

7:41 train takes about 17 minutes to Finsbury park but 7:33 train takes about 37 minutes to Finsbury park.
I used 7:33 train for nearly over 7 months, now I begin to realize that it is better to use the later one. The reason is it is fast and you can get up 7 minutes late which is a little bit helpful in the early morning.
The only problem is you only can find a place to stand, it is always very full when it arrive K. anyway I am glad to find it out, I want to arrive office a little bit early and sleep a little more on the bed, that make me comply it so I decided to use 7:41 train In the future, it is time saving.

Do children spend too much time watching TV?

All of my three daughters (15,13 & 11) have TV's in thier bedrooms as well as games consoles & PC's. My oldest is a bookworm getting A grade GCSE's a year early, middle daughter does Gymnastics and dancing, middle & youngest do fencing. They all play 2 musical instruments, oldest at Grade 5/6. They all have friends and they all ride horses. (We keep them busy) They all get lots of homework. So ultimately, there is no real impact of having full on access to TV for kids unless they do nothing else. It depends how much time you give them to watch it. If they watch TV with me, its generally educational. E.g. The Atom mini series - brilliant!
Mick, Aldershot
I used to believe so. However, through the past few warmer months, I have cheerfully witnessed the local children playing cricket, skateboarding, and more out in the street each and every day.Of course, I'd much rather they use the local park which is literally a five minute walk away, but at least they were not camped in front of a television screen, having their minds rotted from the banal tripe that is fed to them. Now that it gets dark earlier, and the temperature has dropped, the children are no doubt stuck in front of the televisions again. However, I think, given the choice, many would rather not be. Parents often take that choice away.
