Gossip about somebody, No definitely it is not a good idea.
It is a stupid thing that no any benefit you can get
If it is about work, you should have the responsibility to report other's performance to your director, but no anything about their personality. Just what you see, what you can judge reasonable about work.
Don't fear it will not pass the people if you say someone's good thing to others
