Fu

Fu means happiness and good luck in Chinese. It is a character pasted on the wall or door in Chinese families to express people’s wishes for the coming new year.
“upside down” and “come” have the same pronunciation in Chinese which is “dao”, so Chinese past Fu upside down. The “reversed fu” is homophonic with “fu comes”, both being pronounced as “fu dao”, which means the happiness and good luck and fortune come!
